Jewel Park is an enigma of a trail consisting of tightly packed loops carved into a 150ft bluff. If you are lucky enough to find this trail, as it is not unlike the quest for the Lost Ark, it is well worth the search.
The trail itself is fun, but challenging as it climbs and dives down the bluff's flank. The trails are steep and do not level out. They just peak for a second then bomb back down! You sweat up short steep inclines then are immediately rewarded with a swift roller coaster ride to the next up. The trail is short, but packs a punch! Two laps will satisfy and give a hell of a workout! (bring bug spray! mosquitoes are as relentless as the climbs)
To find the trail you must find the highest cave on the 8th parallel on the new moon.... OR, take Kennedy freeway south from I-80 to the Cornhusker exit. Turn left and follow Cornhusker as it turns into Harvell Dr and turn left onto Park Ave which becomes E 13th Ave. Make another left onto Main St which becomes Combs Rd. Start looking for a small parking lot on the left not long after switching to Combs. Once you've spotted it, park there. You have arrived at Jewel! Good luck finding your way back out...
